WHY MOST CONSULTING DOESN'T WORK

YOU'VE PROBABLY ALREADY TRIED
GETTING HELP.

A conference that inspired you for two weeks. A consultant who visited once, delivered a report, and disappeared. A coaching program that gave you good content but no real accountability. A conversation with a mentor who understood ministry but not your specific church.

Most help pastors receive is episodic. It shows up, says something valuable, and leaves. And then you’re back to running the machine — except now you have a three-ring binder of recommendations sitting on your shelf and nothing has actually changed.

Real change in a church doesn’t happen from a single visit or a good book or a weekend away. It happens when someone who understands your church, your team, and your specific challenges shows up consistently over time and helps you do the work.

Welcome to the Intentional Church Accelerator.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF ENGAGEMENT

NOT A CONSULTING VISIT.
NOT A COACHING PROGRAM.
SOMETHING BETTER.

The Intentional Church Accelerator is a 12-month engagement where I come alongside one pastor and one church and we build the whole thing together.

Not a framework handed to you to implement alone. Not a report delivered and forgotten. A genuine partnership — where I know your church, know your team, know your challenges, and show up every month ready to help you move forward.

Think of it as having a Chief Strategy Officer embedded in your leadership — without the cost of a full-time hire. Someone who brings outside perspective, strategic clarity, and the accountability to actually make things happen.

THE METHODOLOGY

A MINISTRY SYSTEM DEVELOPED OVER 20 YEARS. THE BACKBONE OF EVERYTHING WE BUILD.

People don’t grow spiritually by accident. Most churches are built as if they do. The 5 Rights™ System is the framework I use with every pastor and every church — and it’s the foundation of every quarter of the Intentional Church Intensive.

The premise is simple: movement happens when the right person receives the right message at the right time in the right way with the right next step. Miss any one of those five, and your church creates moments. Get all five right, and your church creates movement.

1

RIGHT PERSON

WHO are we leading? You can’t design ministry for everyone at the same time.

Every church has people at different stages of spiritual maturity—Seekers, Students, Shapers, and Stewards—and each group requires a different approach.

The system always starts here. When leaders clarify who they are designing for, ministry stops being generic and starts becoming effective.

“Clarity on who you’re leading is the first step to helping them grow.”

2

RIGHT MESSAGE

WHAT do they need to hear? The same message does not move every person.

Seekers need clarity and safety. Students need formation. Shapers need challenge. Stewards need ownership.

The 5 Rights System ensures the message always matches the person—so communication creates alignment, not confusion.

“Relevance determines attention. Alignment determines transformation.”

3

RIGHT TIME

WHEN are they ready to respond? Even the right invitation falls flat when the timing is wrong.

Spiritual growth happens in sequence, not in bulk.

This part of the system helps leaders discern readiness—so invitations, challenges, and next steps come when people are most likely to respond.

“Timing is the difference between movement and resistance.”

4

RIGHT WAY

WHERE will this actually take shape? How ministry is delivered matters as much as what is delivered.

People grow best in environments that are relational, practical, and accessible.

The system helps leaders design pathways that meet people where they are—without lowering the standard of growth.

“You don’t need more content. You need more movement.”

5

RIGHT NEXT STEP

WHY does this matter right now? Inspire and equip each person to take their step.

People rarely move forward because they’re inspired alone—they move forward when the next step is clear.

The 5 Rights System forces leaders to define next steps consistently across every environment, so momentum becomes the norm rather than the exception.

“If you can’t name the next step, don’t expect people to take it.”

The Intentional Church Accelerator works through each of these five dimensions across four quarters —
building the systems that put every Right into practice in your specific church.

QUALIFICATION

THIS ENGAGEMENT IS INTENTIONALLY LIMITED.

Four churches per year. That’s not a marketing tactic — it’s the math of doing this work well.

When you work at this level, the quality of the relationship is everything. That means being selective about fit.

THIS IS FOR YOU IF...

THIS IS NOT FOR YOU IF…

THE PERSON BEHIND THE PROCESS

13 YEARS.
200 TO 8,000.
HERE'S WHAT I ACTUALLY LEARNED

When I arrived at Woodstock City Church, the congregation was small and the pressure was massive. Good people working hard. Ministry moving in a lot of directions. And a pastor working himself into the ground without being sure he was working on the right things.

What changed wasn’t our programming. It was our intentionality. We got relentlessly clear on one thing: how does a person move from their first Sunday to a fully engaged, spiritually growing life in this church? And then we built every system around answering that question.

That’s the work I do with pastors now. And the 5 Rights System™ — the framework behind the Accelerator — is what we built and refined over those 13 years.

02

Conversation

If it looks like a fit, Gavin reaches out to schedule a real conversation. Not a sales call — a genuine conversation about your church.

03

04

Month One

You set a start date and the first on-site visit is scheduled.

BOARD OR ELDER APPROVAL NOTE

An ongoing monthly advisory relationship at this level often requires board or elder awareness, if not formal approval. That’s expected and appropriate.

Once you’ve had your initial conversation with Gavin, he can provide a one-page engagement summary you can share with your leadership team. Most boards find the conversation straightforward once they understand what the relationship covers and what it produces.

You don’t need board approval to apply or to have the initial conversation. That step typically comes after you’ve decided this is the right direction.

REAL CHURCHES. REAL RESULTS.

Bryant Golden, Senior Pastor, Centerpoint Church — Tampa, FL

“Gavin’s external perspective clarified our vision and helped us build a better model for our community. As a mentor, his ministry experience allows him to encourage our team while providing unique insight. RCC is better because of Gavin. And I am a better pastor, leader, and communicator because of our relationship.”

Paul Smith

Senior Pastor, Rivertown Community Church — Marianna, FL

“Gavin has been crucial as we have sought to refine strategies to help those who attend our church take easy and obvious next steps. Over the last year, we have seen engagement rise in adult attendance, first-time guests, volunteers, and giving. I don’t doubt for one second our church is heading in a positive direction for the foreseeable future.”

COMMON QUESTIONS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What size church is this for?

Smaller than you think and larger than you might expect. The 5 Rights System™ works in a church of 150 or a church of 10,000 because it’s built on how people grow spiritually — which doesn’t change based on attendance. What changes is the complexity of the systems. Gavin has worked with churches under 200 and over 8,000. The engagement is fully customized to your church’s size, stage, and situation.

How much time will this require from me and my team?

Plan for 2–3 hours per month between scheduled sessions, plus the on-site visit days (2 days per quarter). The on-site visits are full working days — plan your calendar accordingly. Outside of those, the coaching sessions are 60 minutes each and the community calls are typically 60–90 minutes. This is not a program that runs itself in the background. It requires real engagement.

Do I need my staff or elders involved?

For the on-site visits, yes — involving your key leaders makes the engagement significantly more effective. For the monthly coaching sessions, this is primarily between you and Gavin. You decide how much visibility your team has. Many pastors brief their staff on key decisions that come out from the sessions; others keep the coaching relationship more private. Both approaches work.

What happens if we don't complete all four quarters?

Life in ministry is unpredictable. If something major interrupts the engagement — a staffing crisis, a facility issue, a personal season that requires your full attention — the engagement can be paused and resumed. Gavin works with you through seasons of complexity, not just seasons of calm.

How do I get my board or elders to approve this investment?

Once you’ve had your initial conversation with Gavin, he provides a one-page engagement summary you can share with your leadership team. Most boards respond positively when they see a clear scope, a defined process, and specific deliverables tied to each quarter. You don’t need board approval to apply — the approval conversation typically happens after the initial Gavin conversation.

What happens after the 12 months are complete?

Most Intensive graduates continue with an ongoing Lead Pastor Advisor relationship — because the momentum built in 12 months is worth sustaining. This is not a requirement, but it is the natural next step for pastors who want continued strategic support. A conversation about what that looks like happens at the beginning of Quarter 4, well before the engagement concludes.

How many churches does Gavin work with at a time?

Four intensives only. That’s not a number Gavin arrived at arbitrarily. At four churches, the engagement quality stays high, the community calls are genuinely useful rather than generic, and Gavin can stay fully present in each church’s specific challenges. Taking on a fifth church would mean taking something away from the other four

What does the investment look like?

Investment details are discussed personally as part of the application conversation. This is a significant engagement and the investment reflects the scope — 12 months, three on-site visits, 12 digital sessions, full Toolkit access, and community membership. If you have a general sense of what this kind of engagement requires before applying, that’s a conversation Gavin is glad to have.
