Most churches struggle to maximize their mission because their model hasn’t been designed for movement.

(In case you’re wondering… I wrote this. And I’m a human. And I definitely recorded the podcast!)

The Simple PSA Method to Engage Guests and Mobilize Your Church

P – THE PROBLEM: Winging It is Costing You

Let’s talk about the 2–5 minute window most pastors and staff barely think about:

  1. The welcome.
  2. The vision moment.

It’s short. It feels minor. But it’s not.

For your guests, the welcome is their first impression of what your church actually values.

For your congregation, the vision moment is your shot at mobilizing them toward mission and next steps.

And yet—how often do we wing it?

If you’re honest, these moments are:

  • Loosely planned (if at all)
  • Rambling, vague, or full of insider language
  • Void of any real, actionable invitation

You’re not alone. I visited a church recently as part of a guest experience audit (This is part of my consulting offering). They had good worship, solid teaching, and friendly people. But their welcome and vision moment? Under-planned and underwhelming.

The host never gave guests a clear next step. The “vision” asked men to give up watching football on Sundays and volunteer in student ministry.

Not wrong. Just…forgettable and lacking inspiration.

If you’re leading people but missing these moments, you’re leaving influence on the table.

S – THE SOLUTION: Use the PSA Framework

There’s a better way—and it’s not more time or talent. It’s structure.

Meet the PSA Framework: Problem – Solution – Action

This communication method is used by marketers, communicators, and world-class brands because it works.

And it works for pastors, too.

Here’s how you can use it to reshape your welcome or vision moment this Sunday:

🅿️ Problem

Start with empathy. Name the tension or problem your people feel:

  • “You’re tired, distracted, and wondering if this place will even matter.”
  • “Feeling disconnected isn’t just normal—it’s easy in a crowd like this.”

This shows you see them.

🆂 Solution

Now bring hope:

  • “You’re not meant to walk through faith alone. That’s why small groups exist.”
  • “There’s a reason this message today matters—it’s because Jesus offers more than survival.”

This points them to why what you’re about to do matters.

🅰️ Action

Don’t leave them floating—land the plane:

  • “Stop by the Next Steps table after service.”
  • “Scan the QR code in front of you and join a group.”

Clarity creates movement. Ambiguity creates indecision.

Real Examples: Vision Moments with PSA

Let’s take that same ask—for men to volunteer in student ministry—and rewrite it using PSA:

Problem:
“Teen guys today are being discipled by TikTok, video games, and a culture that doesn’t care about their soul. They’re starving for real mentors.”

Solution:
“Our student ministry gives them a place to be seen, heard, and shaped. A steady presence from a godly man can change everything.”

Action:
“If you’re a man who wants to be part of that change, come talk to our student pastor after the service. No pressure—just possibility.”

Or, for small groups:

Problem:
“Showing up to church weekly is great—but it’s easy to leave feeling unknown and unchanged.”

Solution:
“That’s why small groups matter. They move you from rows to circles, from surface-level to soul-level.”

Action:
“Stop by the Groups table or scan the QR code on your seat to find your people. You weren’t meant to do this alone.”

A – THE ACTION: A Simple Change That Changes Everything

You already have these moments built into your service flow. You just need a better method to make them matter.

The PSA Framework gives you that method.

It’s not flashy. It’s not complicated. But it’s effective. And if you use it this weekend, you’ll feel the difference—and so will your people.

Put it into place this weekend and see what happens.
